Thermal Softie PCS Trousers

The latest-pattern British Army Thermal Softie Trousers (PCS) are designed to provide additional insulation in cold weather. They are worn over the main uniform or civilian clothing and serve as an outer insulating layer in extremely low temperatures. Lightweight and compact — they fold easily into their own rear pocket and do not take up much space in kit.

The Softie Premier insulation is a modern synthetic material that retains heat even when wet, dries quickly and does not lose loft. The outer fabric Paratex Lite is a durable hydrophobic Ripstop nylon, windproof and protective against moisture and wind, while remaining breathable and effectively wicking moisture outward.

FEATURES OF THE CUT:

• elastic waistband;
• side openings for access to the pockets of the underlying clothing;
• full-size rear pocket with a flap (doubles as a stuff sack for packing the trousers);
• adjustable leg hems with Velcro;
• side zippers with two-way sliders for quick removal/putting on without taking off boots.

Thermal Softie PCS Jacket

The next-generation British Army jacket replaces the obsolete Softie Reversible CS95 model. It can be used as an outer layer (including worn over body armour) or as an insulating mid-layer under a membrane jacket.

MATERIALS:

1. outer layer — Ripstop nylon with hydrophobic treatment (wind and water protection while maintaining high breathability);
2. Softie Premier insulation — a lightweight, warm and durable synthetic down analogue used in military sleeping bags and clothing for extreme conditions.

FUNCTIONS:

• two side hand pockets;
• large zippered chest pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for packing the jacket;
• durable front zipper with two sliders;
• adjustable drawcords at the hem and collar;
• hood with a stiff peak, stowable in the collar;
• fleece-lined collar for added warmth and comfort;

• Velcro chest panel for attaching insignia.
