The ECWCS Gen III Level 7 set is a highly specialized insulating layer designed for maximum protection against cold, wind, and moisture in extreme climate conditions. It is part of a modular clothing system for low temperatures and is used as the final thermal insulation layer over the base levels of gear. The set consists of a lightweight insulated jacket with a hood and pants, designed for use in severe frost and low mobility conditions. Thanks to the modern APEX insulation, it achieves high heat retention with minimal weight and excellent compressibility.
The insulation fibers have water-repellent properties, do not retain moisture, and allow effective evaporation of condensation, retaining heat even in a humid environment. The outer layer is made of fabric treated with EPIC technology — a material encapsulated with a silicone polymer, providing resistance to moisture, wind, and dirt without losing breathability.
The size chart is designed to accommodate wearing over other layers (L1–L5), providing full multi-layer protection. As part of the complete system, the set allows for extended stays in temperatures down to −40 °C even with low activity.
